Genghis Kham and the Making of the Modern World

Maligned by eight centuries of anti-Mongol propaganda, Genghis Khan created an empire which shaped the modern world. Militarily, he created the cavalry, perfected the art of siege and eliminated walled cities from the modern landscape. Politically, he protected the common man & skilled workers, while destroying the aristocracy of his enemies. Socially, he protected and encouraged religious freedom, allowing people to choose their beliefs, whether Christian, Buddhist, Jew or Muslim. Economically, he created an empire that developed free-trade, pioneering the use of paper money and opening trade routes spanning Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
This is a fascinating book especially for anyone interested in world affairs.
