What is the ignored conversation?

No one wants their kids dressing or feeding them, but yet, the conversation about paying for help is often ignored.

People who want to avoid forcing their kids into becoming their caregivers need a plan for later in life. There is a cost for any support, from the disruption caused the oldest daughter (statistically most likely to become the caregiver) and her family, to the tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars of expense for an extended stay in a memory facility.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s Disease is America’s sixth leading cause of death, killing more than breast and prostate cancer combined. Put another way, one in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. But unlike most cancers, Alzheimer’s patients may need care for ten years or more.
