There are many ways to make garlic bread, but lately I have been making a simple garlic cheese bread which has been well received by friends and family. I make it with French bread, a stick of butter, granulated garlic, dried oregano (or Italian seasoning) and a blend of Italian cheeses (ie. Parmesan, Romano, Asiago). So delicious!
Likewise, although portfolios are made up of equities, fixed income, cash and/or alternatives, there are many ways to construct a portfolio which are dictated by the investor’s goals and objectives. Just as the potential of making money may be a desired outcome when investing, being filled is desired when eating, yet it does not explain the reason behind making garlic cheese bread.
If simply being filled was the goal, anything could be consumed to achieve it, but it is not. Garlic cheese bread is great with spaghetti, lasagna or baked ziti. It has a rich flavor which satisfies my craving for bread. It is easy to make for large groups and is always well received, unless of course I try serving it for breakfast.

Mark’s Simple Garlic Cheese Bread
1 loaf French bread
1 stick of softened butter (salted or unsalted)
1 tablespoon of granulated garlic
1 teaspoon of dried oregano (or Italian seasoning)
2 cups of Italian cheese blend (ie. Parmesan, Romano, Asiago)
1) Preheat oven to 400
2) Cut the French bread in half lengthwise.
3) In a bowl, mix the butter and granulated garlic. NOTE: For best results, the butter should be soft, but not melted. To soften butter, take it out at least 40 minutes before use, or place in the microwave for a few seconds.
4) Spread the garlic butter mixture on both halves completely covering the bread.
5) Sprinkle the dried oregano on top of the butter
6) Cover each half of the bread with 1 cup of cheese
7) On a baking sheet, place the bread into the oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the bread begins to crisp and the cheese starts to brown.
8) With a sharp chef’s knife, cut the bread into 1 inch strips and serve.
