Like most people concerned about their health, I try to get regular physical exams. This month I had my first in almost two years, and it was a long one as there’s a lot of things that just plain hurt. I guess getting older comes with certain reminders of our age.
It turns out that I’ve got two small bone spurs causing some issues. One on the top of my right foot has been a known annoyance for years, but I’ve been aggravating it by trying to ignore it. The new one is in my right shoulder and the doctor told me to quit doing chin-ups or any other overhead motion. The good news is none of my aches are due to anything medically serious. In his words: “… you’re disgustingly healthy”, and this is coming from a doctor who trains and races on bicycles (Ouch Sports Medical Center).
Even though I had a couple of weeks without serious running training due to commitments to clients and family, I managed to accumulate about 160 total miles in January. That’s not enough to prepare me for a quality race in my hometown Pocono Mountains Run for the Red Marathon on May 18th. If February is likewise impacted, I may need to opt for the two person team relay. Enduring Wealth Advisors® is a major sponsor of this year’s event and we hope to see you at our finish line water stop, regardless if you run the 5k, relay, or full marathon!
